Your merch is your best form of promotion, impress your fans and gig goers, and they become a walking advert for your band or tour!
- Get a good designer!
- make your stall stand out
- Tell people/fans about your online shop
Some good, eye catching designs can help you and your band stand out from the crowd, Find some inspiration, look at your favourite bands, do they have a theme to their merch? does the style fit the music? is it art or text based? Talk to a good designer, this is what they do! (this is how I work with bands on T-shirt and merch design)
A well presented professional stall will make your band more professional and merch more appealing. Get a cheap pasting table, use some cloth to dress it. use an A1 portfolio as a fold out backdrop to show off your band merch. Possition your self in a high traffic area, make sure you can be seen in the crowd, dueing the gig make a point to show where your merch is.
Get an online shop for your band (big cartel, red bubble and etsy are all good) then the other important bit… tell people about it! lots! link it from your website, facebook, twitter, tell your fans at gigs, ask them to retweet/repost about it!
